BIBUS is an expert in systems and knows the business models and difficulties of its customers. Thanks to its extensive experience, BIBUS helps its customers in the mechanical and plant engineering sector with technical, commercial and even logistical solutions.
What are the advantages for BIBUS in offering solution in the mining industry sector?
The company vision to supply technical solutions helping customers to be more successful goes beyond the cooperation with WEG. We understand more than just a product, we understand the system, the business model, the constraints and difficulties of our customers and we help with technical solutions, commercial and even logistics solutions. The cooperation with WEG is for promoting WEG products. We understand the complete family of products WEG has in the portfolio for the mining industry. Because we understand the customer challenges, we are able, together with the customer, to define the most suitable products for each project.
What are benefits for the customer using WEG products?
WEG decided many years ago to develop its business fully verticalized. This means, WEG is producing the majority its parts in house. I will give an example for an electrical motor. WEG produce the cast iron frame and its welded frame for large motor in house. WEG has the lamination lines for stamping the stator slots, WEG produces the stator, WEG produces the rotor in house, WEG has a wiring production line. WEG produces the insulation varnish and the motor paint. In one place, in Jaraguá do Sul – Brazil, WEG starts from raw material like steel and copper and at the end of the day deliver a fully functional motor. This could be a small motor of 0.75kW or a high voltage motor of 15MW for instance. This decision for verticalization gave volume to WEG allowing to develop a cost leadership strategy and at the same time to have control of its production without depending on sub-suppliers. The benefits of verticalization were clearly noticed by the customers during the pandemic, when WEG was able to act improving its production in a record time even though the order entry was way above the average.
What is BIBUS doing looking for the mining industry in terms of sustainability?
BIBUS is very careful when it comes to sustainability. Environmental responsibility with resources optimization and savings is important criteria in the business activities of BIBUS Group. One of our main customers in the mining industry, has a technology which saves about 30% energy for the same outcome compared to its main competitors. Such kind of customers we are honor to support, it fits even with our slogan “supporting your success”.
Rigid criteria are applied by signing cooperation with suppliers. The cooperation with WEG was an easy approach. Both companies share similar social and environmental values which facilitating the alignment of the global agreement.
WEG is recycling 96% of its manufacturing scrap since the 90s. In 2011 WEG was the first Brazilian company to be Energy Management System ISO 50001 certified. This kind of principles are aligned with BIBUS values for sustainability.
What developments are currently occurring in the field of energy conservation
For the mining industry WEG developed new family of motors, more compact, more efficient, which means less raw material, less energy for producing the motors, at the end less resources. WEG is also looking to the future developing new technologies with very high-power density (kW/kg), e.g. 29x less weight for the same kW when compared to standard induction motors technology. Such technologies are going to disrupt the electrical motor market once commercially viable. As BIBUS, we are always looking to our partners and the investments they are making, if sustainable for the future generations. This is an important criteria for long term sustainable cooperations.
